At Being Brave, we believe in the power of stories, connection, and healing. Founded by an experienced developmental and counselling psychologist, our organization is rooted in a trauma-informed, attachment-based and neurodivergent affirming approaching to care. We support children, adolescents, and adults through individual therapy, parent-child work, and community-building programs. Our mission is to nurture resilient hearts and minds by creating safe spaces for emotional growth, attuned relationships, and professional learning. Whether you’re a client, caregiver, or therapist-in-training, Being Brave is a place where you don’t have to do it alone.

Our Journey

Healing is rarely a straight path, but we truly believe that when we share our stories, we remind each other that we are never alone!

Soumini has always been drawn to the power of stories—the ones we tell, the ones we hold in silence, and the ones we long to rewrite. This deep curiosity led her to the world of psychology, narrative practice, and arts-based therapy, where she discovered that healing is not about fixing what is broken, but about reclaiming our voices and finding meaning in our experiences.

Over the past 15+ years, she has worked with children, adults, families, and professionals, creating spaces where they can explore their emotions, process trauma, and reconnect with themselves. Her early years were spent in early intervention and developmental therapy, working with children on the autism spectrum and supporting parents through the complexities of neurodivergence. But as she deepened my practice, she found herself drawn more and more to trauma-informed work with adults—helping people make sense of their pain, unlearn survival patterns, and step into a life that feels more whole.

Through Being Brave Mental Health Services, she along with a skilled and energetic team – now offers therapy, supervision, corporate workshops, and community programs, blending narrative therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness to support healing at every stage of life. Whether it’s a parent struggling with overwhelm, a young therapist looking for guidance, or a leader trying to create a more compassionate workplace, our work is about holding space for real, meaningful change.

Stories continue to shape Soumini’s journey, not just in the therapy room but also through her writing. Her book of poems, Being Brave, is a reflection of the emotions, resilience, and quiet courage Now along with her team, they hope to create witnesses for each person that they work with — and at times ways to showcase their life stories in tangible forms like art, music, theatre, books etc.

Our mission

Our mission is to help people reconnect with themselves and rewrite the narratives that no longer serve them. Through trauma-informed therapy, arts-based expression, and reflective supervision, we strive to create safe and transformative spaces for children, adults, and professionals. We believe that healing is not a solitary journey—it is shaped by the people who walk beside us. Whether through one-on-one sessions, group work, or community conversations, my work is about helping people step into their own strength, find meaning in their experiences, and know that they are never alone.

Our Vision

We believe that healing happens in spaces where people feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Our vision is to create a world where mental well-being is nurtured through connection, creativity, and compassion—where individuals feel empowered to own their stories, therapists feel supported in their work, and communities grow stronger through shared understanding. Whether in therapy, supervision, or training, our hope is to build spaces that foster resilience, belonging, and the courage to heal.
